Wedding photography trends come and go
A few trends that come to mind are sepia and spot-colour. Now I could show you examples but I just don't want to put that stuff on my website. :-D We all know sepia, or maybe it's soooo out of fashion that you don't. It was that brownish black and white look. Spot colour is when only one part of the image is in colour, for example the bouquet but not the bride holding it. While kind of fun, it never looked good. Even when it first came out. Then there was a trend where the bride and bridesmaids would pretend to be trash and put their dresses in their knickers... yes, that really happened! Oh and don't even get me started on dinosaurs chasing the bridal party.... I refused. You see, cringy.

A huge trend at the moment is the "instgram-brown" all the photos have a brownish look but there is still a hint of colour.To be fair it doesn't look terrible. I do however think it will become a fad as no one wants to be the "same" forever. New trends will evolve. I think instagram-brown will ulitmately become the New-Old-Sepia.
Make your wedding pictures last.
So, I'm not saying don't follow trends at all. What I am saying is don't delve too deep. You might find yourself wanting to hide those special photos in the darkest crevice of your home because they suddnely became, well, cringy.
Wedding pictures that stand the test of time.
These wedding pictures of Brent and Vidette are 15 years old! From the onset, I wanted to create images that would stand the test of time.
If I remember correctly, all the Groomsmen had the cameras and Brent wanted to incorporate them. I had an idea of "Paparazzi & Fame" in my head. To top if of, they had the stunning classic Mercedes.
I arranged the couple and then spread the groomsmen around the car, I told them to pretend to take pictures. The cameras were vintage and didn't work. Much nicer than phones, right? I also put a flash, just out of shot. You can see it bleeding in from the door (middle-top of shot). This gave everyone an edge and made the shot "pop" even more.
Everything just worked! Right down to the staircase nearby. Absolutely perfect to elevate me to a height I wanted to be. It turned out as a "scene frome the outside" pun intented. Nice!
